Beauty Over Books

24in x 24in Wood canvas art installation composed of a recycled mannequin, a vintage Polaroid film camera and a 1980’s dictionary. All these items were aesthetically refurbished then later textured with a white chalk paint and a clear matte chalk finish.

Inspired in those individuals who pursued industries evolving around beauty and the human body. Modeling, bodybuilding, photography and film. The human body is art in its maximum expression and for centuries it has been a reflection of our societies, from the Venus of  Willendorf of the Stone Age, Venus de Milo of Ancient Greece, all the way to the Kardashians of today, every single society shapes its own beauty preferences and carves the standards and expectations many of us crave to fulfill.
