Affirmations

Digital media was created and printed on 3M adhesive vinyl and later hand painted using acrylic based paints. This 65in x 55in recycled victorian frame was aesthetically refurbished then later textured with a white chalk paint and a clear matte chalk finish.

Inspiration:

In the educational system, calligraphy was a great tool to sharpen children’s writing skills but also to condition them. Generally, when reprimanded for bad conduct, kids are instructed to do calligraphy assignments that highlights how to improve their behavior. This piece is inspired by those very successful individuals who once were the black sheep of the classroom, not because they weren’t bright kids but because their energy wasn’t being channeled properly.
